Tips for Planning your own Dessert Buffet

A dessert buffet is similar to a candy bar but filled with a variety of desserts not sweets! Dessert buffets are as diverse as candy buffets and are only limited by ones imagination. They can host anything from cupcakes to cream puffs, cake pops to tiramisu and anything in-between.

A great way to link your buffet to your special occasion is through your theme and the dishes you serve, be it cultural favourites, colours, flavours, and even textures.

Some tips to help when planning a dessert buffet at your next special occasion:

• Have a solid idea of the colours for your dessert buffet.

• Choose your theme. If the dessert buffet is for a wedding reception you may want to follow suit with your wedding colours only, the wedding theme, or with the cuisine being served.

• Decide if you would like a backdrop to highlight your dessert buffet such as draped fabric, canvas, or various other backgrounds to set off your dessert buffet.

• Keep in mind the colour, feel and theme you want your dessert buffet to have and then choose your design layout and linens to follow through with that vision.

• Be creative with your dessert choices and your layout. Think visual appeal when making your choices.

• Include personalised labels in creative ways to display your dessert choices, maybe chalkboard signs or other creative ways to capture and accent your theme perfectly.

• Don’t forget the serving utensils, eatery utensil and service wear. You may even want to consider favour bags/boxes for those who would rather take their special treat home with them to enjoy later.

• Keep in mind food allergies. Make sure to mark clearly those foods containing common food allergies such as peanut, chocolate, and egg allergies.

• If you want photos, take them before the guests arrive as they have a tendency to look, touch and eat the goodies as soon as they see them!

After struggling to find unique tableware in Australia we decided to start importing some of our favourite pieces from the USA and Europe to sell to our wonderful clients.

The first (hopefully of many) pieces we have received is the ceramic Ribbon Cake Plate perfect for any Special Occasion. I just love this cake plate! it’s simple, elegant and you can create endless different looks & styles by slipping out & changing the ribbon.

We have a variety of ribbons available but in reality you can use any ribbon, fabric or pliable material that will give you the look you want.

Being 12” in diameter it’s perfect for not only cakes but cupcakes or chocolate bars, and can also have a smaller decorative piece placed on top.

Our collection has a wide range of props, accent details and vintage items that can help you bring your vision to life, from the largest down to the smallest of details. For a fraction of the cost of purchasing these items yourself you can create a theme, look and feel for your special occasion that is uniquely your own.
We have a wide variety of items as part of our collection from popular new event items such as Apothecary Vases, Ribbon Cake Plates & Drink Dispensers to our eclectic and vintage items like our blue ball mason jars and crystal pieces.

Our collection can be used to create beautiful centerpieces, table displays, vintage photo shoots, photo props, dessert bars & treat stations, room theming décor or anything you can imagine.

Most products do have an individual hire price, however if you would like to use a variety of items we can create a custom package for you at a discount. Sweeten Up Special Days with Imported Chocolates and Candies

A common thread runs through many of the special days on the calendar .... celebration & sweet treats. We have gone a step further by stocking interesting, unusual and yummy chocolates and treats from the USA and UK for Easter, Christmas and other occasions. In fact, I know of no one else that is currently stocking the range we are!

For instance, single colour M&M’s are very easy to coordinate with a party theme or a holiday celebration and look amazing on Candy Bars and Dessert Buffets. Holidays should be sweet and beautiful, for the Christmas season M&M’s releases a red and green themed collection, Hershey’s Kisses come wrapped in colours of the season as well and a wide variety of candies have colourful labels, all centred on the traditional seasonal motifs.

For Easter we stock the M&M’s mixed pastel collection, Peeps Easter bunnies and an assortment of chocolate & multicoloured sugar confectionary. Standard Hershey’s candies such as Reese’s, Kit-Kat’s, Kisses and Hershey’s Miniatures also come in Easter-themed packaging. The chocolate is sweet, rich and excellent, and the wrapping makes the candies all the more special.

Other treats include Cupcake Toppers, Crackers, and many varieties of imported candy bars & treats and every holiday treat is beautifully wrapped in colourful holiday-themed designs. Spread them out on a table and watch as excited guests snap them up.
